A two day opportunity to draw under the guidance of artist Kerry Phippen.
Day One will be spent in Bristol’s Museum and Art Gallery. Students will be making sketchbook drawings using the collection as stimulus, providing an opportunity to make detailed observations of subjects that remain in one place!
Students will be encouraged to work from only one or two subjects. (This could be the study of a painting)
Day Two will be at Bristol Zoo. Students will be making fast drawings in their sketchbooks in response to the moving pace of the zoo and its inhabitants. Students not wishing to draw the wildlife may choose to work from other areas; people, plants, buildings, or whatever inspires them on the day. The aim of this day is to record information quickly and gather fragments for future reference.
Possible Day Three.
How do we move from sketchbook study to a new piece of work or more finished drawing? A chance to spend time evaluating our sketches and discussing ways forward, individual tutorials with Kerry.
