Drawing into Monotype Workshop

Monotypes are ‘one-off’ prints. This workshop will focus on an introduction to several techniques, both hand printing and using the etching press. Those who already have had a taster of monotypes can spend the day experimenting and refining the process under the guidance of the tutor. Monotype stands between drawing, painting and printmaking giving it a unique, spontaneous quality. The workshop will offer an opportunity to ‘free up’ experiment and explore – expect the unexpected!

The morning of the workshop will focus on developing monochrome mark-making and in the afternoon using colour and layers. Bring in a selection of your drawings as starting points. The tutor will guide your drawings throughout the day, if the weather is fine you can draw outside or work from still life (provided). Please bring an overall.
