Alan McGowan
Alan McGowan is a figurative artist, illustrator and teacher.
Educated at Edinburgh College of Art and Newcastle Polytechnic he is based in Edinburgh and is an elected member of Visual Arts Scotland, he has taught life drawing at the University of Northumbria, Edinburgh College of Art and Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art, he is the winner of the Wood award at VAS at the Royal Scottish Academy, and the Bowie Award for Painting at the Paisley Institute.
His illustration work and portraiture have appeared in the Sunday Times, The Telegraph, The Independent, The Observer, The Scotsman and many other publications. He has exhibited in the UK and internationally and his work is in private collections in the UK, Europe and the USA.
