Lynn Imperatore

Lynn Imperatore began to draw before she’d had time to register any self-conscious around it - aided by a lucky combination (or curse) of strong short-sightedness and visual disturbances brought by migraine. Drawing always presented itself as an essential undertaking for mapping experience.

Lynn studied at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, Massachusetts, graduated from New York University, and received her Masters of Fine Arts in Visual Art from Vermont College of Fine Arts. She has taught university, post-graduate and adult drawing classes for a number of years in the United States. She relocated to the UK two years ago and is currently pursuing a practice-led PhD. at UWE/Bristol. Her research is focusing on certain areas of interplay between drawing and the imagination. Lynn is the Chair of the Postgraduate Associates of the Advanced Centre in Drawing (ACiD) at UWE, and has a studio in BV Studios, Bedminster.
